Subject: RE: Mac to PC and Back for PC novice

I'm a powerbook 1400 user at school. It has been my main machine for a
couple of years. I use ethernet at school and dial up at home switching
with location manager.
I have just bought a windows machine for home use. I hope to network the
two primarily for file sharing rather than printing. I have a 3com
ethernet card in the windows machine and understand I only need to have
a local shop build a crossover cable for connecting the machines. I
have been looking at PcMacLan and Dave as products to help me do this.
Yours is the first mention of the product Wingate that I have heard. Who
makes that product? How might I find out more?
I notice you are using tcp/ip rather than appletalk which is the
protocol I believe PcMacLan uses. For simple file sharing, is the tcp/ip
setup worth the effort?
