Check out a product called Private File - it allows you to encrypt (and
compress) files on either platform and expand/decrypt them on either, as
well. It accepts a simple password (or complicated one, if you'd like),
preventing you from having to keep track of keys or key chains...
I think you can find it for $30 to $40... I know MacWarehouse has it...
