    I suggest you set up the VPN functionality of W2K server. Both Mac OS X
    and Windows XP have a compatible VPN client built in.

    You can find instructions on implementing Windows 2000 VPN in many
    places on the Web. Here is one set of instructions.

    To make the server accessible over the Internet, it will be necessary
    to forward traffic from your router on the VPN port to the server. That
    port is 1723.

    I strongly discourage you from opening the Windows file sharing ports
    to the public Internet. Recent worms have spread via port 135, and may
    do so again. Implementing a VPN is a much more secure way to accomplish
    what you are trying to do.
