    Not really. In OS X you mount a smb network volume in Finger via Go>
    Connect to server.

    enter 'smb://<IP name or address of server>/<share name>'

    for any samba server and share

    then enter your username/password at the prompt and you're gold. It
    pops up like any other network volume on the desktop.

    Yes.

    However, you will have to open all those ports on both ends, which
    means you REALLY want to set up a VPN between your home network and the
    work, which is another kettle of fish.

    The Mac will do vpn via Internet Connect.
