[WinMac] MS Proxy and Macs

Our college recently installed MS Proxy and all of the Macs on campus
have since been experiencing problems, such as:

1. Web pages in Internet Explorer never finish loading. Even though
all page elements *are* loaded, IE doesn't seem to realize it.
Clicking "Stop" does not work either. The real problem is that
printing a web page no longer works because the page never finishes
loading. I found some old info on the MacWindows site about this
problem, but no solution (at least none of the suggestions offered
there worked).

2. Certain password accessible web sites, such as Hotmail, no longer
work with the Macs. Mac users enter their name and password for such
a site, but the connection can never be made.

The college network uses NT and the proxy connections are using SOCKS.

Does anyone recognize these problems? Any suggestions for a fix?

Jerry
