At this point you have to use PPTP (maybe IPSec in the future) and you'll
need something on your wired network to act as a VPN gateway for the
wireless clients.

The network will look like this, with the VPN gateway having one network
card connected to the access point and another to your wired lan:
wireless --- access point --- VPN gateway --- wired

On the client side, Win2k, WinXP and OS X 10.2 have a PPTP client built-in.
For pre-10.2, look at DigiTunnel. For OS 9 you have to buy TunnelBuilder.

You're cheapest option for a VPN gateway is probably a low-end Pentium
running Wolverine Firewall.

3> It's a stripped down Linux for use as a firewall and/or VPN server. I've
never used it but I've used Coyote Linux, their NAT server on a floppy, for
years.

I know there are other VPN gateway options but the only one I can name is
Win2k Server. Even if you had the hardware for that, you probably wouldn't
want to buy the license(s).
