What exactly is the problem?

One potential hitch is that to use the PC as the gateway, you'll need to put
the cards into "peer-to-peer" or "ad-hoc" mode, and then also turn on some
kind of routing, be it ICS, or something else.

Unlike the AirPort, there isn't "software base station" software that will
make the PC into a true base station. (Well, that's not entirely true -
some Linux hackers have created something that'll do this, I think.) So,
"peer-to-peer" is the only way your Mac will "see" the PC. And then you'll
need to turn on some kind of routing.
