I have an iMac 350 MHz, 64 MB, OS 9.0.4, about 2 years old. Never had much
trouble except for system crashes when applications freeze. Most often AOL
5.0 but sometimes Appleworks 6.0. Feeling like I should try to fix it by
checking for conflicts or file damage I purchased TechTool Pro 3.06.

I loaded the new software and installed TechTool on my harddrive. Next
following their instructions I switched my startup disk to be the TechTool
CD. After restarting all I got was a gray screen, no Disk just gray. I
attempted several restarts in the hopes of getting the CD to eject or
startup. Finally I got the disk with a question mark and was able to eject
the CD. The CD looked to have vapor on it and a small ridge of clear glue? It
was also hot.

Now I cannot load any CD into my iMac. The drive takes the CD in and spits
it back out in a few seconds.

Any suggestions or ideas before I walk down that path to an expensive repair?
Do I have any recourse against TechTool?
