Although I haven't had cause to use it, I d'loaded a utility called "Duplexer Tool" which is intended to allow the end-user to set the duplex mode (half- or full-) and perhaps speed. I think it was an unsupported product, but it seemed to have worked for those discussing it back in 1999.

If you can't find it, I'll happily send it as an attachment.
