Hi!
I need some suggestions for problems my mac users have reading
windows attachments, or some links to go to.

I've tried to eliminate conversion problems by having a user
send me the attachments directly to try to convert it. What I end up
happening is that Word thinks the document is text. Most of the
problems occur when a student uses, what I consider to be, our
convoluted email system. Here's the scenario:

Our labs have Windows 98 with Microsoft Office 2000.
Our email system is: for students Novell NIMS via a java interface,
like hotmail; for faculty/staff Groupwise.
Email clients: Netscape IMAP, Groupwise client, Groupwise via a java
interface, again like hotmail.

Windows users don't seem to have problems, at least none that
I've heard of, but our Macintosh users can't seem to consistently
read attachments. The first thing I thought of was that there's a
conversion problem, but I've got Macintosh Office 2001 and MacLink
Plus translators. I thought that Macintosh Office 2001 was file
compatible with Windows Office 2000. If I'm wrong somebody correct me.

When I look at the mail headers the attachment is supposedly
encoded base64.

Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
