(upfront confession: cross-posted to winmac and powerlist)

apologies in advance to all 'Listas and winmacsters, but I'm in
proverbial "on the road overseas with a messy urgent problem and slow
modem access" hell, so I haven't the ability to diligently search
archives...I therefore grovel for your indulgence...

    - me: pismo, 9.1, VPC 4 available

    - them: ibm ThinkPads, Win2000

    - will need to: transfer some rather large (Mbs but not monsters)
files, quite often in near realtime as revisions are done. transfer
to / from an individual machine, not to/ from a group.

    - environment: very mobile, therfore dialup/email is out; also for a
variety of reasons, counting on physical solution, such as media or
cabled (ie Ethernet crossover plus DAVE), is out.

we've all got IrDA, how can I (can I?) use this to transfer files to
/ receive files from a ThinkPad: native via Mac OS? using VPC? does
TCP/IP have to be manual, whatever?

Thank you all very much, replies in "How to Do This for Dummies"
format on or off the list as you see fit given ethics of bandwith and
    relevance...

    Chuck
