I have not seen that before, but let me give you a vote of confidence on
maybe looking at ExtremeZ-Ip with print support. We have a print server of
over 45 printers being shared with EZIP, you install a little utility on the
client and it sets up a desktop printer just acts and looks like any other,
except that it is basically an LPR that communicates with the EZIP server
software. EZIP then hands off the print job to the Windows Print System to
the installed printer of choice. This has several advantages.

    1. FAST - the IP printing is Much Much Faster than printing via AppleTalk.

    2. Stable - I have yet to have to reboot my print server. With NT 4 SP6
plus hotfixes and patches, we would have periods where the machine would
constantly hang print jobs in certain printers.
    3. Overall machine performance...no SFM, need I say more.
    4. downloadable PPD files. When you define a printer you can copy your
PPDs to the server and associate the PPD with the printer so when you
configure it on the client, you will be prompted to download the PPD file.
    5. FAST
    6. I have ALWAYS had a problem printing to certain printers (HP 8500, CLJ
5m) from either AppleTalk or an NT server from the Macs. Now they are
stable and beautiful. Did I mention FAST? I get faster prints from my 8500
now in full color than I ever did.
    7. No more security setup to mask unwanted printers from the chooser. Now
you set up a PS printer and share it if you want to Windows client, or not.
Then you share it to your Macs from the EZIP software. Matter of fact, if
you use EZIP for File and printers, you have no more need for AppleTalk
except for Network Assistant and legacy printers, but for other devices you
    can actually turn AppleTalk off.

Now don't get me wrong, I believe AppleTalk is fantastic, (especially for
printing) however, in today's era of consultants who know nothing about
proper AppleTalk setup (and for consultants that do please do not flame me
for this, but I have been bitten by my share of high end consultants that
don't) it makes for a much easier switch and network setup.

Anyway...rant mode off, I would be more than happy to field any questions
regarding my particular setup in my particular environment.
