You probably want to avoid investing in new software, but I've had
tremendous success with Netopia's Timbuktu Pro for intra and inter
platform and operating system transfers and "manipulations."

I have installed Timbuktu on all of my lab and faculty computers
(most of which are Mac OS)... and I have the windows version of
    Timbuktu installed on the PCs.

The value of the application for me is that I can access any computer
to control the computer or - as in your case - to transfer files from
one platform to another. The size of the file is much less a problem
than the speed of the connection.

Timbuktu was a Farallon product until a year or so ago... it's now
    developed and distributed by "Netopia."

    see: http://www.netopia.com

    hope this helps,
