The only possible gotcha I have first hand experience with, is using
the Mac's Finder to copy large amounts of data. I recently backed up
20 gigs to an external firewire drive, reformatted the internal disk,
and then tried to copy the information back to the internal drive.
The Finder frequently hung wile trying to deal with the thousands of
files i was trying to move.
I found that copying smaller chunks of data (under 3000 files) at a
time, I was able to finally move the stuff from the firewire drive
back to the internal disk. Needless to say, this was time consuming
and frustrating.
