    Hi again,

A few months ago, I installed a new 10 GB hard disk on my daughter's old IBM
Aptiva. For some reason, it was only possible to format 5 GB as the other 5
GB were not recognized by the computer. In formatting programs, the space
    shows up as unallocated.

I have been trying to install a couple of Linux partitions on the Aptiva,
even going as far as to reduce the amount of the FAT 32 partition, to no
avail. I then tried to resize my FAT 32 partition back to its original size
and that doesn't work either. In all cases, I get the following error
    message from Partition Magic 6.0:

"Error 56 Sector not in specified read or write range."

What gives? any ideas or advise?

    Cheers,

    Brian
