Did that before I asked on the list.

The email program is Netscape Messenger and it doesn't matter if I'm
emailing it from the Mac or the PC version.

That's true and that's exactly where devious folks have caused problems
for Outlook users.

Scott Nishimura suggested I just write a command file (DOS batch file)
and send that instead of a Windows shortcut and that worked.

Thanks to all who replied and especially to Scott Nishimura for
suggesting such a simple solution!
