    I have no idea if this will work, but it is what I would try.

    Make sure printer sharing is installed in the Network Control panel (this
    assumes 95/98/ME, if NT/2000 then skip it.)

    Share the printer with some DOS compatible sharename, oh say for instance,
    "BUBBA"

    From a DOS box issue the command:

    net use lpt1: \\MYMACHINENAME\BUBBA

    where MYMACHINENAME is replaced with whatever your machines name is.

    I am assuming that this will map the printer through it's network
    sharename and not care how the printer is actually connected to the
    machine.
