            There's a good Reader Reports section on this on MacInTouch. Personally, if
    you can juggle your backup window around, particularly doing differential
    backups on weekdays and full backups on weekends, I would take a close look at
    the $1300 Benchmark Tape DLT licensed clones at <http://www.benchmarktape.com>.
    They are actually quite nice DLT-8000 mechanisms, without that &#@! lift
    handle.

            Up until a couple of months ago, my recommendations were DLT or nothing; since
    everything else uses helical scan technology which stretches the tape. However,
    Paul Bunn (chief engineer at UltraBac) recommends the Ecrix drives as well, as
    they seem to be immune to tape stretch, despite the helical scan mechanism.
