I will only throw one more consideration at you - and it has nothing to do
with software compatibility or the future job market. It is something that
I live in mild fear of for two NT server networked systems that I support on
    a volunteer basis.

That fear is of viruses and the resulting down time, data loss, and/or
damage. The cost of virus damage needs to be counted - and it's not "if",
it's "when" you will be affected. You will find that at your busiest times
is when you will be receiving documents via disk, CD, e-mail, etc. and it's
when you can least afford to be hit - yet it is when you are most vulnerable
because data is coming at you from all directions.

The Mac is not without viruses - but there are dozens of PC viruses for
    every Mac virus.

Been there - and have had viruses on both platforms. I sleep better knowing
that my primary data and work is on a Mac.
