Next message: Tippe, Rita (EDM_EXCHANGE): "[WinMac] Reduce Appletalk"
The hard drive on one of my 7200/120s (OS 8.0 [soon to be 8.1 if I
can find the time], 80MB RAM) tried to croak on me this summer.
I ran NDD 3.5 on it today (don't have the 4.0 CD with me at the
moment) after reformatting, and it said there were bad blocks. It
fixed them, supposedly, but when it went to check the directory
structure, it told me there was a *serious* problem it couldn't fix. It
recommends reformatting, but of course I've already done that.
Is this a job for DiskWarrior or some other program (if so, I'll go out
and buy it immediately), or is this something a higher version of
Norton can fix? I can at least run home and get the 4.0 CD and try
again for a more detailed description of the problem.
OR...does it sound like it's time for a new hard drive? To those of
you who've replaced hard drives in 7200s...what brands/models
would you recommend? I'm not looking to spend as much as $150
on this old machine, and I shouldn't have to, since the other drives
are only 1.2GB and I'd like to maintain uniformity in drive size on
the network as close as possible.
Thanks for any assistance you can offer.
