    Outlook 2000 can check mail using POP3, and can access an LDAP directory
    from any POP3 or LDAP server. Go to Tools | Services | Add and choose
    Internet Email. Outlook 2000 works best with an Exchange server, but
    having one is not an absolute requirement.
