[WinMac] Win/Mac filename question

    I have a Word file that was created on a Windows PC and transferred
    to a Mac via a PC formatted floppy disk.

    The content of the file is just fine but..
    the filename shows up on a PC (and Virtual PC 2.0.1 on the Mac) as:
    webct_panel.doc
    the filename shows up on the Mac as: webct_tip.doc

    What's happening here?
    I'm accustomed to truncated filenames on both platforms but this has
    me confused.
