In this particular case, the IP was static. I am not sure how it would work
via DHCP, except that if you have the Airport set up via DHCP, it will get
it's IP from the Cable modem, I would imagine you would need to turn the
base station on first, allow it to get the IP number, then it will answer
DHCP broadcasts fro mthe other clients. I believe this is what I read on
another list somewhere...however I have no ability to test that theory since
I myself do not have a cable modem of DSL..just lil ol' dial up, but at
least it is through our own network so I know I won't get a busy signal
8-)..

I am not sure if teh cbale connection is shared liek a hub, or switched, I
know it operates from a pool, but I do not know the specifics.

This is exaclty the set up I used with the static IP (minus the G4)I
can tell you that the PC did not get DHCP from the cable modem (which IS
available however it never worked so they gave a static IP), but from the
Base Station, so I assume (you know what assume means right 8-)..) it would
work the same if the base station had DHCP from the cable modem, AS LONG as
the airport is turned on first, allowed to do DHCP via the cable, THEN boot
the clients...
