My experience with cross platform use of the Apple Airport is
positive. As long as the pc is using a DSSS protocol card... the pc
talks with the Aiport base station with same efficiency as the
Macintosh iBook or Aiport card equipped iMac.

Older Macintosh laptops (pre Airport card) can communicate with the
Airport Base Station if they use a pc (DSSS protocol) wireless card
    such as the Farralon device.

My only problem has resulted from an attempt by one user to interface
using an ISSS protocol based card. It "do not" work!
