If there are a lot of files to be moved the null modem cable method can
be rather slow. If you're not afraid of a little under the hood work
then I'd remove the hard drive from one of the computers and install it
as a secondary hard drive on the other computer. Then you can move a
great whacking lot of files really fast! When you're all done, take the
second hard drive out and put it back in the computer it originally came
from. This would work too if you wanted to clone a hard drive using a
    program like Ghost.

Keep in mind for IDE drives, the second one has to be set to slave and
of course for SCSI the IDs need to be unique with the last drive being terminated.
