PGP Freeware has something called PGPNet which can create encrypted tunnels
between any two hosts. You need to purchase it for commercial use but the
commericial version has the added ability connect to VPN gateways. When it
first came out, I tried to get it to work between my home Mac and office
WinNT machines but was not successful. I'll admit that I'm not very
experienced with PGP but the documentation also seemed rather lacking, at
least on the PGPNet component. Perhaps things have improved in that area.

NTS TunnelBuilder is a VPN client for Mac and Windows which supports
Microsoft's PPTP VPN system (amongst others). It's compatible with WinNT's
RRAS VPN system and presumably with Win2K Server's although Win2K's may
have additional configurations (IPSec) which are not compatible with
TunnelBuilder. The advantage of using a PPTP-based VPN system is the client
software is freely available for Windows (bundled with Win98, 2K,
downloadable in DUN 1.3). The disadvantage is PPTP has had holes poked in
its security in the past so it's reliability is in question, at least
relative to other VPN systems.

There are other options but depends upon what you're trying to do.
