My suggestion for an inexpensive tape backup system is don't buy one. If
their data is worth protecting with a tape backup don't skimp because Tapes
can and do fail.

True, running NAT can create the effect of a "Firewall" to some extent. I
guess I'm unsure where the safe ground for a small business lies. I'm used
to dealing with Fortune 250 firms that spend $500k on proxies and Firewalls
for tens of thousands of users. Any comments?
The other point is that we really wanted to to off-load the IP NAT and
Routing off of the G3 since it's a graphics production system.
I like the idea of using an Internet appliance for this. Their DSL provider
(USWEST) gives them a Cisco 675 to use, but no documentation, and I know
that the IOS on that model isn't the same as the standard Cisco products.
I'll need to check out the Prosignia 500 more. I know it already has a NIC,
because it was previously an NT server, but I don't know what NIC. This is a
low-budget affair ... that's why the idea of running the whole thing
(Netatalk, samba, NAT, IP Routing) in Linux seemed like a good idea.
Any suggestions on an inexpensive tape backup solution for a server like
this ... ?
TIA.
