Open up your TCP/IP control panel, change your User Mode to Advanced,
click on Options, and uncheck "Load only when needed." Close and save; and
now your IP stack will remain loaded all the time.
Also, if your cable modem has only one IP address, you'll need to either
rent a second IP address; or hide your machines behind a proxy or firewall.
