This isn't a reason not to get a G4 upgrade -- it just means that one
should get a faster hard disk.

Actually, I think that SCSI Manager 4.3 and the Thread Manager were
available in System 7. I can't think of any Mac with an "expensive
SCSI disk subsystem" that shipped with System 6, since the nice
subsystems started shipping with the PCI PowerMacs... unless you're
thinking of the Mac IIfx, which did come with hardware that wasn't
supported by the OS.
