[WinMac] deskwriter on PCMacLan

Dear WinMac Wizards,

I have a Deskwriter 660C for my PC7200/120 PC Compatible which is
connected to a PC via PCMacLan. The HP web site clearly states that the
Deskwriter is not ethernet capable - the adapter is about $99 to convert
& I would like to avoid spending that much. I figure, since PCMacLan
uses AppleTalk, if I could figure out a way to use the AppleTalk printer
driver for my Deskwriter, then the PC could use it directly. The HP web
site advised using an "AppleTalk connector box" to plug into the printer
port and another for the computer and a cable between - I think this
would set up a local network so I could use the AppleTalk printer driver.
The boxes only run $19 each - perhaps a cheaper solution that the
adapter above since I'd also have to get a hub.

Am I on the right path?

          Thank you for your consideration,

               Rosemary

PS. Does a non-postscript driver exist that will drive an Okidata 4000e
from a Macintosh? The HP postscript driver for a LaserJet IIP recognizes
the printer is over there on the network, but since the printer isn't
postscript, the printing is garbled.
