If you're using Gnome, then i'll assume you're taking about RedHat 6.0.
(SuSE 6.1 also recently came out, and includes KDE *and* Gnome.)

Both distributions have the new 2.2 kernel, which is a big selling
point...

Eh, but i'll stop before i start expounding on the joys of Linux.
