Yes, you're right. I'd only been using it for some really basic printers
and I forgot that detail.

There's always the option of BUYING a RIP, I guess, but that would be
severe overkill...

Yeah, I can't believe I forgot to mention this option. I use one to print
to my OkiPage 6e; with a 2-parallel port buffer I share the thing to my
Mac and my PC. But my Mac has only one serial port (a laptop) and I STILL
have to swap cables whenever I want to print. I read the the PortJuggler
people are coming out with software soon that will be compatible with
MacOS 8.5...
