Make sure that the macintosh client machine you're on has "remember
recently used items" turned off in the "Apple Menu Options" control panel.
This has been the cause of many of our problems with mac clients freezing
on an NT server. That, and having a corrupt Office Manager preferences file
-- try trashing that if my first suggestion doesn't work.
