The email administrator here said she could only limit the amount of
disk space that an account uses but that there was no way to limit
individual messages. This is a Netscape mail server version 3.6. Maybe
she's not aware how to or it could be that is just not an option that
the Netscape mail server has. If you know how to do it on this version
of mail server please let me know and I'll pass that information onto her.

I run a small mailserver made by Software.Com and it doesn't have any
such per message limit either. It sounds like a reasonable and smart
feature though. So much so that you wonder why every mail server
wouldn't have it.

Thanks Chick!

Hi,

I have two separate problems that I would like to solve, both of which are driving me crazy.

1) Is there an easy way to convert three or four newspaper articles, that I want to post on my web site, on a single web page with links to each article and back to top links? The alternatives as I see it are a Word or ClarisWorks template (I have both), or an AppleScript for those two products or Claris Homepage or MS FrontPage for the Mac (which I also have).

2) Can anyone send me the latest Outlook for the Mac client installer in 2 MB segments? I have been trying for a couple of months with no success. This is largely due to the lame Internet connections in Turkey, where I am stationed at this time.

Cheers,

Brian Durant

Not only that, but click on a file you've found (in the find window) then hit command-e and it opnes the folder where this file resides, ultra-kewl

What you're doing with IPNetrouter is called IP masquerading and it should work from any platform (provided you've configured them correctly). But you'll need to give the PC an IP address, rather then selecting DHCP, on the same subnet as the Mac's and also include this IP address under IP masquerading in NetRouter.

Happy surfing.

Bruce, I use the 4 letter product code as part of the search string... That narrows things down quite a bit.

One thing you can do is use a lot of asterisks * in your windoze searches, especially in the extensions. And I agree, the MacOS Find File - Even the old System 7.1 version - is a hell of a lot better. But then it IS easier to search when the OS has File Type and Creator information to play with... Dual fork files DO have a few advantages, despite being an overall pain.

a friend of mine asked me to help him set up a small network in his apt. (how do i always seem to get suckered into these things?) he has two pc's, and one mac. i've suggested dave, and i think that's the way we are going to go on the mac side, now my question is on settin up things on the pc side. he has one wintel NT computer that has a cable modem, and an extra ethernet card, and the other wintel NT system has an ethernet card. both are running nt workstaion afaik. he bought a hub, and some cables. so all the hardware is all set up. but how do we go about getting the two pc's to share folders w/ each other? or will they just see each other on the network if we give them some ip address, and pray? bonus question: how to get all 3 computers to be able to use the cable modem? i know if he had it hooked up tothe mac it would be a good place for ipnetrouter. i've set that up before with much luck. is there a comparable product on the winNT side? thanks for all the help :] -hary _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hello there, With regards to the Mac issues, I can't help with 2) but on 1) I would go with the Home Page approach. I am assuming that the articles are already electronic. If so create a webpage and put the text on the page with spaces (about 3 carriage returns) between each one. Then use the anchor function to create links to each article from the top of the page and back to the top. Their should be a tutorial with HP and anchors should be explained. By the way, what the heck are you doing in Turkey? Are you stationed because of Military or Business? Hope this helps

Hello all,

After login in to our NT server as any user (with no administrative privileges), from my mac, the mac volume window opens up and I am able to see every directory in it.

However, I am not able to do anything else with the volume or with any of the directories in the volume, hell I can't even get control of my mac, mouse moves but it seems like the connection is hanging my mac, the two little arrows next to the Apple Menu items (MacOs8.1) stay on as if there was somehting being either fetched or sent to the server.

The only way I regain control of my mac is by disconnecting me from the server via the Server Manager.

If I login as an administrator, I don't experience this problem, furthermore, if I login as a user from some other mac I don't seem to experience the problem either.

Any ideas anyone please? it's driving me craaazy.

thanks!

Cesar

I'll forward the files in 2MB segments to you. They will be Stuffit Self-extracting. The total size is approx 20MB (before overhead).

Subject: MacBinary downloads From: Tom Roth <tomroth@wfubmc.edu> Date: Thu, 8 Apr 1999 19:03:29 -0500 Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" ; format="flowed"

I've been playing around with some MacBinary encoded files on our website this afternoon and I've discovered that if I put the files on our website then when I download from my Mac it doesn't automatically decode and as it's downloading it says "file type unknown".

If however I set the download link to point to our FTP site then it downloads and decodes it fine saying "File Type StuffIt Expander". Same exact file each time, uploaded the same exact way.

I don't understand because if you look in Netscape's prefs under Applications, StuffIt Expander is set to handle all files with the .bin extension. However, it doesn't seem to work unless those files are being downloaded via FTP.

Anyone know what might be the problem?

Which NT Service Pack are you running? If you are running sp4, make sure you installed sp3 first. I heard there is a patch related to this that is not included in sp4. -----Original Message----- From: Cesar Morales <cesar@ucsd.edu> To: The Windows-MacOS cooperation list <winmac@xerxes.frit.utexas.edu> Date: Thursday, April 08, 1999 8:08 PM Subject: [WinMac] NT login and Mac access problem
