You can find out your computer's specifications using the Apple System
Profiler. It is located on the Apple menu.

The minimum operating system for the G3 mini-tower is Mac OS 8.0. Version
8.1 should install on it just fine. You should either install from the
CD-ROM that came with the computer, or upgrade to Mac OS 8.5.1. I'd suggest
the latter for speed and stability.
