It seems to me that anyone buying an iMac or G3 w/out a floppy drive is
going to buy either an internal or external zip (100 meg floppy) or Jaz
(1 or 2 gig) or SuperDrive (120 meg floppy that can handle 1.4 meg
floppy -- and there is your floppy right back again).

I'm sure the whole missing floppy issue was a cost related issue (in the
very real and smart guise of innovation). And for anyone in the know
(knowing the floppy would be missing from the iMac), it has probably
been a good financial investment on the short term to buy stock in any
company that has supplied the 1st generation of products that supplies
these missing or new innovation devices or standards (1394).

This iMac/G3/FireWire/USB thing has been a financial boon on many levels
to the Mac industry, not just Apple. I am just glad that there is
enough competition to probably keep prices reasonable. When Apple first
got started, Jobs had a penchant for wanting to have the biggest price
tag. ihope he doesn't get that going again. So far, I have to admire
his business savvy and his Mac spirit (regardless of the still bad taste
from the clone thing).

As regards the clone thing, we still have clones (so to speak). They
are now called accellerators/upgrade suppliers and the Mac has plenty of
suppliers of these and hopefully always will. ihope the symbiotic
relationship with these suppliers will remain strong and grow. iLove
those low priced G3 upgrades. iWish they went all the way back to my
Performa 630 (and even my Performa 600). Oh well, the faster computers
are getting less expensive anyway.

iNough said. Have a good day to you all.

God Bless us all.
