Yes- it's up to IS to provide a better solution <see below>

I made a <simple> applescript and stuck a floppy icon on it. The user
double clicks, it gets a name and password, then mounts their home
volume from an AppleShare IP server. So if they're at home, they
double click, it dials in, and boom- there's your floppy on your
desktop. Throw it away, go to school- boom, it's there.

I don't know scripting under winXX, but can the same thing be done with samba?
