Well, well...

As far as I know this is a list for people working in mixed-platform
environments, so I don't see any reason to prohibit people asking for
arguments on which platform is best for a specific purpose (and why), even
if they state their own preference in the request.

It depresses me greatly when closed-minded debates about which OS is
superior are encouraged. Most of the arguments on both sides, in my
opinion, are based more on emotion than fact, and the "facts" that do
exist are generally based on outdated information and experiences.
Personally, I'd rather spend my time learning something new rather
     than rehashing old dogma.

There has been no debate on this subject, now has there? Just some people
giving tips on where to find info on a requested subject.
As for arguments being based on emotion more than facts, there are people
on this list who have years of experience on both of the platforms, so I
think they could have some usefull comments on which platform is -in their
opinion- the best for a particular purpose, and why.

For those who have an open mind, there's always something new to learn. And
for those who do not, there always a subject line so you don't have to read
other people's opinions.
