Subject: Newspapers and Windows?

Hi all,
Here's a really dumb question but if anyone would know, it would be here
on this list. This is for a research paper that I am working on in
reference to operating systems. I know that the Mac OS is the main
platform of choice for desktop publishers but does anyone know of a
newspaper or publishing house that is using the Windows environment
instead? If so, why?

Thanks for any help on this.

Respnse:

I publish a biweekly 16 page Tabloid newpaper, eight pages full color.
This is all done on a PC.

The reason for the PC is the need to run applications other than
publishing. I feel that the availability of applications for the PC is
pervasive compared to the Macintosh. The Macintosh appears to specilize
in publishing/graphics to the exclusion of many other vertical
markets/applications.

However, all of film output is generated using a mac-based imagesetter
without problems (even true-type fonts). Acrobat3 has really facilitated
all this.
