        Dear Matthew:

        MacOS 8.5 allows you to manually reattach Alias.' Try upgrading one of
your boxes to 8.5.1 and see if the problem goes away.

        Also, unload/shut down NAV, (use Worm Food 1.5 as your antivirus), and see
if the problem goes away.

        Lastly, I use the "Network Neighborhood" (or whatever Apple calls it... I
always rename it "Network Neighborhood" to make it more comfortable for
windoze users!) in 8.5 as the network selector applet.
