So now we begin to see where your vitriol comes from. You're feeling hurt,
some of your customers have badmouthed you (or at least implied by their
behavior towards you), and you want someone to blame. I guess I can relate to
that, and my sympathy goes out to you; but that's just the hard world of
business. You gotta learn to roll with the blows. I think vitriol hurts your
reputation more than your crystal ball failing to come up with the hottest
technology pick.

Find a way of communicating with your customers that lets them know that this
is a rapidly changing world. They make an investment in something, and it may
pay off a little or it may pay off big. But face it, they probably benefited
from it, gripes and all. Take the y2k thing. What a pain. But there was
probably more money saved over the years by those two little digits than it is
costing now to fix it. Used to be that 16K of core memory (hand wrapped
magnetic core) cost a million.

If Apple went bankrupt next year, an artist buying a Mac today would still
profit from the edge it gives her in getting her work done. She could continue
using it even if Apple went out of business. Then, when it is time to replace
it, she'll have to make a switch. But, in the meantime, she profited from the
purchase. People & businesses need to be agile and adaptive.

I think your hurt and anger may end up clouding your judgement. Get over it
and be cool. Your judgement will sharpen and you'll feel better.
