[WinMac] Alpha vendor lacks in enthusiasm

Strangely, the below is the response to an Alpha RFQ I sent to a major
New England Alpha rep.

I thought I'd see what Dan S. is so excited about re. the Alphas.

Here is the reply (with name and company name deleted, although Dan S
has a copy of the full response) :

> Why are you looking to purchase an Alpha system? This system is about the
> same speed as a Pentium 333Mhz. Are you aware that not all Intel
> applications run on Alpha?

> Reason I ask is most people don't know the differences between Alpha and Intel.

> Thank you,

> <name removed>
> "Company X"
> "Solutions for Alpha, Sun & Intel systems on Windows NT, Red Hat Linux, & UNIX"

Now I think I'll continue buying Intel HW for our NT needs. I mean, when
not even the Alpha dealers seem all that excited about the Alpha chip... so
why should I?

A note on Acrobat on NT (using Japanese that is)...

After today's troubles trying to get the NT version of the Acrobat Writer
to work I curse the day when I bought Acrobat for Windows. Trying to
embed MS Minchou in this app invariably causes either MS Word to crash
or, if done directly in the NT Windows Explorer, it brings down Explorer
to the point that the entire system is unstable. In fact, I'm going to log off
right after this email to try to bring some order back.

And we're not even a print shop...
