Well, the problem is that the bickering came from a perfectly
logical and pertinent question of which platform/OS would be better
for a certain *task* that a list member was undertaking. And some
very good answers were given; it's just that certain "aficionados",
if you will, of either platform had issues with some of these
answers, and the thread turned into a flame pit. It was not the
original poster's fault.

I think this list is the perfect place for users of both platforms to
raise questions that can be constructively answered as to which OS is
better for particular tasks. The extracurricular comments in
response just need to be kept out, or sent in private.
