Dan,
You just broke your own rules. Don't blame Jobs for extra extensions
installed by Adobe, Quark and M$. These companies and others are insane
on BOTH platforms for installing extra system stuff, installing older
versions of system software over the new versions you carefully installed
before, and just plain burying you in (seemingly) useless numbers of
files.
