Response to Milan Adamov comment about Postcript and Corel

"PostScript is platform independant. But we have an imagesetter in
company (the other department is prepress oriented), and from our
experience, PostScript files coming from Macs never had any problem,
while those files coming from PCs are like playing lottery, especially
if they are Corel-made, they look good distilled in PDF, but generates
error in RIP. Several times our operators wasn't able to do anything
with the PS file and clients went to competition and competition never
could do anything with files also. As I can here from our competition,
they all have similar problems.

Response:

I design a biweekly tabloid newspaper - 16 pages with 8 pages
four-color. Ads are designed in CorelDraw and imported to QuarkXpress
V4.04. Final output is color separated and distilled from Quark and
delivered to Web offset press printer as PDF files. (all genetrated on a
Pentium PC).

Printer outputs to film on a Mac-based Imagesetter. There has never been
a problem doing any of this. Yes, I have even used a couple of
"isolated" TruType fonts - but they are all embedded in PDF.

Admittedly, the PDF settings for distillation are critical and specific,
but Adobe helped guide me though them.

Obviously, something is different between Milan Adamov process and mine
-- but nothing that a little homework might correct.
