Yuletide greetings,

If and when I understand the nuts and bolts of making connections between
Win98 and Mac 8.5, I hopefully will be able to determine whether or not I
can use AppleScript and DOS command lines to automate the process. At this
time I still do not understand those basics however :-(

Original message:

Thanks for the responses. The problem is that you need to be VERY specific
on setting up the ethernet on the Windows side as I know zilch about
networking with Windows.

Here are the specifics:

1 UMAX Pulsar (S900) with serial card including ethernet 10 base-T
1 PowerBook 1400 with Global Village 56k/ethernet PCMCIA card (10 base-T)

The Pulsar will by the end of the week be running a OrangeMicro 660 PC Card
with an AMD K-6 processor and max ram (135 MB??). The PowerBook 1400 will
probably be running VPC as it seems to be faster on the PB, but I have
RealPC as well. The configuration for the Mac side of the ethernet
connection is functioning. I would like to synchronize some Windows files
on my PB running VPC/RealPC with files running on the UMAX OrangeMicro
card. Both machines will be running Windows98. Throw into this mixture that
I am considering buying an iMac for my daughters. This will be running the
VPC/RealPC that I chose not to run on my PB (and Win95 or 98). The idea
would be to use the UMAX as the central computer of the network that the
others log on to. How do I set this up in practice??

Cheers,

Brian

Brought to you by way of a UMAX Pulsar, a Mac OS clone computer.
