Hello all,

I hope you have the best of holidays!

We recently acquired an NT box to replace our old NetWare 311 server. Most
of our clients are macs (25) and there are two PCs. Creating users and mac
shared files has been...well, not a slam dunk.

1. I create a new user with the User Manager for Domains.

2. I Make a share from one of the folders in one of our hard drives. This
folder was created as a Macintosh accessible volume using File Manager.

3. When I am creating a shared folder within this Macintosh accessible
directory, I come accross with several 'Permissions' buttons.

let's see..

in the "File Manager" MacFile menu
in the "Sharing..." dialog box
in the 'Security' tab of the "Sharing..." dialog box

what the f@#$& for ?!! (is there a simpler way to attach sharing attributes
to these folder?)

Furthermore, once these shares are created, can those shares not to be
accessed by a particular user, be made hidden within the Mac accessible
volume, so that when a user logs in he/she sees only his/her assigned
directory and not the directories assigned to others (which otherwise
appear in the shared folder, when logged in from a Mac as belted folder
icons, kinda annoying)

Thanks folks!
