NU 4.0 is crap so far, I would not recommend using it much. There is a
brand new utility that is actually not crashing and destroying data
called DiskWarrior. It doesn't work on file recovery, but it has been
rock solid for hard disk repair and recovery of the file system.

The reason so many people claim the Mac OS (and whatever network
solution) has better security is because it was designed _without_
networking in mind. While this gives Macs slower network performance, it
means nobody can get into a Mac-based network easily because there are no
holes in the system. There are barely enough openings for the clients.
Other systems were designed for network use, like NT and Novell. This
means you can get through them many different ways. Some of them unwanted.

However, the problem with Services for Macintosh doesn't relate to the
power of the network or the security or 'robustness' of the file system.
The problem is it fails often: "Oops, I can't see the network", and the
network guy may even have to reboot the server. And he probably can't
even figure out what caused it. Fix this and we'll be happier about
plugging our Macs into NT.
