"This maps DOS/WIN extensions to macintosh applications." True, but PC
Exchange never adds an extension (three characters plus a dot) to a file name.
Therefore, the extension name must already exsist before PC Exchange will do
anything to the file, i.e. map it to a Mac application. "...turn off PC
Exchange and see if that works." We now know that this will not make a
difference (unless you actuall set it up to respond to .hqx files) and why it
will not. "...a customer's Mac the program is adding an .hqx extension to the
files." StuffIt does this (not PC Exchange). To avoid StuffIt Expander from
launching (when double-clicking on a file with an .hqx extension), simply
remove the .hqx extension from the name (typically, Mac programs do not
associate parent programs via extension names, StuffIt is one exception I am
aware of) or open the file via the parent program's open command.
