Hook the cable modem to a cheapo PC box (it doesn't have to be more than a
386) with two ethernet cards in it. Go get some bridge software (the name
escapes me right now, but it's free). Connect the cable modem to the 386 NIC
#1, then the hub to NIC #2. Plug everything else into the hub. What the 386
does is bridge two networks, one, your own private network, and the other the
wide world. The bridge computer is then seen as a router on your network.
Presto, You have your own little branch of the internet. Plus, with a little
more work, (and possibly a faster bridge system) you can also set up your own
server on the net, and all your home systems are connected as well.

The only problem is if the cable company is making you use some browser as the
only way to connect...if you can use a ppp connection to the cable company,
this is doable.
